Wonderful words to help hurting hearts. It is so important to recognize the pain not only where we are but to also (try) understand the suffering and pain of others who are on their own terrifying journeys.

People are confused when I tell them we felt blessed and lucky to have our Mackenzie in our lives. She DIED, how are you blessed… God allowed us to have her, even if the time was short.. We only knew her in a peaceful way, she went on to heaven before she felt the pain of the world.. I never had to look into her eyes and know it was the last time. She made us better, she set my path for life. I think it’s rare though for humans to understand the “blessing” in loss until it happens to you. Do we miss her and long to hold her….. yep, but when the time is right we will do all those things……..

Thank you for sharing your wonderful heart and helping spread awareness not only for SMA but also EB…

Audra, you once again did it. You expressed my feelings right down to a tee.

I will add….one day when I was changing Eden, my mother in law told me what her OB/GYN told her 3 days after giving birth to her second son, who she soon lost after birth due to a heart defect. He told her there are worse things in life than death. I never caught onto what she was trying to say until Eden passed away. Yes there are worse things out there than death. There are worse things out there than SMA. Do I want anyone to suffer from SMA…no, but I don’t want anyone to suffer from anything. Yet there are millions of people out there suffering everyday. Wish we could take all the pain and suffering away. So just my thoughts and adding another perspective.

Yet again Audra you have done a wonderful job of putting very difficult thoughts into words. Are you sure you shouldn’t be “Rev Audra” as opposed to “Father Audra”? Inspirational Speaking would be good. Andy touched so many lives in his quiet, gentle way and you have the ability and talent to carry his story and message to so many more lives. I know he is so proud of how you have both come to terms with his journey. Someday I will be able to read your thoughts without drowning my keyboard but its your way with words that does it..
