Andy’s Dad is Irish…as in born and raised in Dublin, Ireland. St. Patrick’s Day used to be a big deal for us…until Andy was diagnosed with SMA on March 17, 2009. We had so looked forward to our son’s first St. Patrick’s Day, only to spend in it a pediatric hospital, learning that our worst nightmare had just begun.
But, today isn’t a sad day for us now. It’s a day to celebrate Andy’s fighting Irish spirit and all of the blessings that have come into our lives. It’s less about green beer and more about a celebration of family. So, in that spirit, Happy St. Patrick’s Day from our family to yours.
